Guided Walk with RTC

Sunday, October 131:00—3:00 PMMarshfield Town Trails

Explore Marshfield on foot! New to town? Long time resident? Looking for friends to walk with? Here is your opportunity to explore some of Marshfield’s gems. This series of walks is co-sponsored by the Recreation Trails Committee and Ventress Memorial Library. The walks are designed to allow residents the opportunity to explore trails which are located in Marshfield. With so many trails in town, there is probably one located not far from where you live. Our community walks are led by RTC members and a variety of guest presenters. These walks are free and open to the public.

The walks are limited to 12 participants, age 10 and older. Students ages 10-17 are welcome with an adult. Participants will learn about the history of the property and will share their knowledge with others.Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and to dress for the weather, which includes hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray; we also encourage participants to bring their own water bottle. Some trails may not be suitable for all individuals. Hills, rocks, tree limbs, uneven ground and brush are all common trail features.

While our walks vary in length, they may go up to two hours per walk. In the event of heavy rain or thunder, walks will be rescheduled for the listed rain date. The North and South Rivers Association offers descriptions of Marshfield and Marshfield area trails at NSRWA.org. Questions? Reach out to Ned Bangs, Chair of the Recreation Trails Committee (nbangs@townofmarshfield.org) or Cyndee Marcoux, Director at Ventress Memorial Library (cmarcoux@marshfield.ocln.org).

This walk takes place at Webster’s Wilderness. Meet at the rear of the upper parking lot of the Senior Center, 230 Webster Street. This walk is a favorite of Recreation Trails Committee members. There is much to appreciate here: local history, Cherry Hill, and how Slaughter Island got its name.

Rain date: Monday, October 14 at 1:00 p.m.

Registration for this event has now closed.
