Guided Walk with RTC
Saturday, August 39:00—11:00 AMMarshfield Town Trails
Explore Marshfield on foot! New to town? Long time resident? Looking for friends to walk with? Here is your opportunity to explore some of Marshfield’s gems. This series of walks is co-sponsored by the Recreation Trails Committee and Ventress Memorial Library. The walks are designed to allow residents the opportunity to explore trails which are located in Marshfield. With so many trails in town, there is probably one located not far from where you live. Our community walks are led by RTC members and a variety of guest presenters. These walks are free and open to the public.
The walks are limited to 12 participants, age 10 and older. Students ages 10-17 are welcome with an adult. Participants will learn about the history of the property and will share their knowledge with others.Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and to dress for the weather, which includes hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and bug spray; we also encourage participants to bring their own water bottle. Some trails may not be suitable for all individuals. Hills, rocks, tree limbs, uneven ground and brush are all common trail features.
While our walks vary in length, they may go up to two hours per walk. In the event of heavy rain or thunder, walks will be rescheduled for the listed rain date. The North and South Rivers Association offers descriptions of Marshfield and Marshfield area trails at NSRWA.org. Questions? Reach out to Ned Bangs, Chair of the Recreation Trails Committee (nbangs@townofmarshfield.org) or Erica Ruscio, Head of Adults Services at Ventress Memorial Library (eruscio@marshfield.ocln.org).
This walk takes place at Red Gold Farm. Meet at the dirt parking lot located opposite the Green Harbor Golf Course, 624 Webster Street, formerly known as the Garretson Cranberry Bog. Red Gold is the most recent addition to the town’s protected conservation land. A beautiful area to walk and bird watch. Future plans for an elevated boardwalk, sidewalk, and gangway.
Rain date: Sunday, August 4 at 9:00 a.m.
